What began as a simple idea among a few young minds blossomed into the first-ever event uniting all Bengalis of Suffolk/Ipswich in a vibrant cultural celebration. On October 19th, SBS hosted this remarkable event at the Murrayside Community Center, and the turnout exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to see so many Bengalis come together, and we hope this community continues to gather and keep Bengali culture and heritage alive in the UK.
The event’s success was driven by the wonderful participants from various age groups who delighted us with their dances, songs, and recitations. Our very own band, “Hajabarala,” capped off the event with nostalgic music from Bengal. The celebration concluded with a lunch and a meet-and-greet session, fostering connections and camaraderie. The event was graced by a visit from the Mayor of Ipswich Mr. Elango K Elavalakan.
